The 20th and 21st September 2022 were a turn for 24 participants from Kicukiro, Gasabo, and Bugesera districts whereby the training took place at Kigali, Gasabo District
Women for Women Rwanda is implementing a project entitled “Enabling environments for successful female entrepreneurship in Rwanda” across 7 districts namely: Gasabo, Kicukiro, Bugesera, Rwamagana, Kayonza, Muhanga, and Nyaruguru whereby the end of the project, 1,440 women micro-entrepreneurs increase skills and connections to run successful micro-business. According to the head of the Economic Empowerment department Mr. Ezekiel Rukema, Among the components that are being delivered, Business leadership is offered to a number of 200 selected Micro- women entrepreneurs as a practical training to boost their business leadership skills, as well as their confidence as businesswomen.
The 20th and 21st September 2022 were a turn for 24 participants from Kicukiro, Gasabo, and Bugesera districts whereby the training took place at Kigali, Gasabo District and aiming at:
- Providing information and understanding of the key concepts of leadership, its different styles, theories and skills that enables them to become successful and more effective leaders in their Cooperatives and businesses.
- Supporting and facilitating the development of knowledge, skills and attributes on leadership, enabling women to address various challenges that they may encounter as business leaders
- Equipping them with different negotiation and influencing skills as a business leader.
- Build women micro-entrepreneur’s business and communication skills and connections to become confident businesswomen, capable of negotiating with and influencing potential partners, including investors, public and private financial and market actors, as well as other decision-makers.
As these women are already running their Individual/Cooperative micro-businesses; for this training, WfW-Rwanda’s trainer uses practical tools and methodologies easily applicable to their business realities.
After delivering this training, WfW-Rwanda is expecting that all skills and knowledge that have been given to the cooperative leaders are going to assist them in attracting new cooperative partners and potential products buyers, reducing the members drop out due to conflicts and problems that are happening in their cooperatives and increasing the performance of their cooperatives in terms of production.
"As a Vice president of Cooperative Imboni Gikomero, the skills and knowledge that I got from the training are going to increase my ways and strategies to use while resolving a conflict among cooperative members as it is under my responsibility. The training also has given me all required skills and knowledge on developing a product which is demand-driven, this is going to help my cooperative for getting new markets and compete with the existing and strong cooperatives" Said Mukasharangabo Scolastique
The other participants have also highlighted that this training is going to positively affect the way they are making decisions on different issues in their cooperatives, on how they are approaching different markets and increase their competitiveness vis a vis other cooperatives.
