Today, we’re excited to reflect on the progress of 100 newly enrolled women from the Nduba sector, who are now on their journey of the Stronger Women, Stronger Nation (SWSN) program.
This program, run by Women for Women Rwanda, is dedicated to equipping vulnerable women with the skills and resources needed to achieve economic independence, positively influence their families, and become pillars in their communities.
As these women move forward in the 12-month program, they will be gaining essential social-economic skills. The SWSN program provides a pathway to brighter futures, empowering them to achieve stability and independence in ways that will have a lasting impact on their lives and the lives of those around them.
Two participants in particular, Mukagakuru Marthe and Uwamahoro Marie Claire, shared their dreams for the future, shedding light on the unique aspirations they hold for themselves and their families.
Mukagakuru Marthe, a 45-year-old single mother of four from Murambi Village, has a vision of building a modern, comfortable home for her family. She hopes that, through the vocational training she will choose, she’ll gain the skills necessary to realize this dream and provide a secure, supportive environment for her children.
Uwamahoro Marie Claire, a 20-year-old mother of one, faces the daily challenges of single motherhood, currently working as a farm laborer to make ends meet. Marie Claire looks to the SWSN program as an opportunity to transform her life and emerge as a skilled, market-ready individual. She envisions becoming an empowered woman capable of not only advancing her own livelihood but also contributing to the development of her community.
Together, with Mukagakuru, Uwamahoro, and all the incredible women in this cohort, we are making strides toward a brighter future. Their journey is just beginning, and we are honored to walk alongside them as they build the skills and confidence to shape their lives and uplift those around them.
Stronger Women, Stronger Nation — one step at a time.
