A New Hope: Mutuyimana Jeanne's Story

Life can feel very limited when you are young, especially when you feel like opportunities are not meant for you. This was the reality for Mutuyimana Jeanne, a girl from Kagarama Cell in Rwanda.

Before she joined the ABADACOGORA a youth-branded program for Women for Women Rwanda, Jeanne felt a deep sense of hopelessness. She believed that only boys had a chance at a better future, and she couldn't imagine any possibilities for herself. This feeling is something many young girls in rural areas experience, but Jeanne's story is one of change and hope. Her journey shows how much of a difference support and a belief in yourself can make.

The ABADACOGORA program became a turning point for Jeanne. It was more than just a program; it was a place where she started to see her potential. Through the training sessions, Jeanne's way of thinking began to shift. She started to understand that she had the ability to achieve her goals, just like anyone else. One of the most valuable lessons she learned was about saving money. This wasn't just about putting money aside; it was about planning for her future. She learned how to set goals and work towards them, which is a big deal for someone who once felt like her future was out of her hands.

Jeanne now saves 1,000 RWF each week. This might seem like a small amount, but for her, it's a symbol of hope and action. She’s saving this money with a specific goal in mind: to start a piggery project. This project is not just about earning money; it’s about creating a source of income that she can manage herself, giving her a sense of independence and ownership. It's a way for her to build a better life for herself and possibly help her family in the future. This kind of planning is something she didn't think was possible before, and it makes her very proud.

Jeanne's transformation has inspired her to share her newfound confidence with others. She wants other girls to know that they too can change their lives for the better. She encourages them by saying, “Girls should believe in themselves and have self-esteem because there is so much, they can achieve.” This message is a powerful reminder that everyone has the potential to make their dreams come true if they believe in themselves. It's more than just words; it’s an encouragement that comes from her own experiences and journey of personal growth. Her quote serves as a beacon of hope and a call to action for other girls facing similar challenges.

Mutuyimana Jeanne’s story is a powerful example of how saving money when combined with support and guidance, can change lives. It shows that girls can create their own opportunities when they have the right tools and mindset. Learning to save is not just about having some extra money; it is about developing a sense of self-worth, believing in your own potential, and planning for your future. Saving allows girls to work towards their dreams like starting a small business, going to school, or helping their families, ultimately shaping their own futures. Jeanne is a member of group 10 in Rubona-Rwamagana. Her journey is truly inspiring and demonstrates that with a little support, anyone can achieve great things, making her a true role model.
