With nearly 35 years of experience in Accounting, Financial Management, and Logistics, Dorothy Mukayirabuka has developed a robust skill set spanning multiple sectors, including for-profit enterprises, government institutions, and non-profit organizations.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in Accounting from the School of Finance and Banking (SFB), Kigali, and a Higher Diploma in Business Administration, specializing in Accountancy, from Nkumba College of Commerce and Advanced Studies, Uganda.
Dorothy’s extensive career includes over 14 years with Women for Women International and Women for Women Rwanda. Her roles as Accountant and Cashier involve managing payroll, preparing financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and government regulations. Notably, she served as Acting Finance Manager during a key transitional period from 2015 to 2016.
In her prior roles with Kigali City Council (MVK), Dorothy managed budgets, oversaw logistics, and ensured financial accountability. She also contributed as Assistant Accountant and Budget Officer, where her attention to detail and organizational acumen streamlined operations. Her early career includes roles with RUMA Certified Public Accountants and Land Ways Tours Ltd., where she gained foundational expertise in financial reporting, bank reconciliations, and account preparation.
Dorothy is also an experienced leader, having acted as Chief of Division (Budget and Logistics) at MVK and led the electoral committee for employee representation at Women for Women International in 2015 and 2018.
Her commitment to professional growth is evident through numerous training courses, including advanced Excel, finance policies, risk management, leadership development, and team building. She is fluent in English and Kinyarwanda, with limited working proficiency in Swahili and French, and is proficient in financial software such as QuickBooks and Sage Intacct.
